Luxury motor yacht maker Riviera has hit yet another significant milestone as it celebrates its 40th anniversary, with the 100th Riviera 5400 Sport Yacht rolling off its Gold Coast production line.
The boat marking the tonne – coming only months after the Riviera 6000 Sports Motor Yacht Platinum Edition hit the same benchmark – was delivered to its new New Zealand-based owner.
Riviera owner Rodney Longhurst said the benchmark sales results for both the Riviera 5400 Sport Yacht and the 6000 Sport Yacht “affirms their global popularity and our dedication to creating world-class luxury motor yachts”.

“Riviera Sport Yachts are enjoyed by owners the world over for their sports pedigree, performance, pure luxury, their flowing indoor-outdoor spaces and features such as tender garages, wide side decks and covered cockpits,” Longhurst said.
Riviera said the new owner of the 100th Riviera 5400 Sport Yacht Platinum Edition was stepping up from a Riviera 4000 Offshore he’d owned for the last 14 years, and was happy to stick with the brand.
“I already had a Riviera and that’s what I was planning to purchase again,” he said.
“I chose the [Riviera] 5400 Sport Yacht because I like a single-level style of boat. I definitely wanted a social motor yacht, an entertainer, and the 5400 ticked all the boxes for me, especially her size.
“That’s the beauty of the Riviera range because you can go in any direction and find something that suits you perfectly.”
Also attracting the new owner was the Riviera 5400 Sport Yacht Platinum Edition’s manouverability, which despite its length and twin 750hp engines capable of delivering a 34-knot top speed can still be docked by a single person thanks to its Volvo Penta pod drive system.
“The Volvo Penta IPS (Integrated Propulsion System) joystick controls of the 5400 have made my 30 years of boat handling knowledge obsolete,” the boat’s new owner said.
“With relatively limited experience and tuition you can become an expert quite quickly and handle the boat with confidence.”
Riviera will have three new boats on display at November’s Sanctuary Cove Boating Festival including the new Riviera 64 Sports Motor Yacht, Riviera 50 Sports Motor Yacht and the upgraded Riviera 72 Sports Motor Yacht.
