Until recently Rivergate Marina & Shipyard has accommodated vessels up to 80 metres in length, however this week Rivergate announced it is now able to offer berthing up to 234 metres LOA.
The new berthing is available via a commission of Queensland Bulk Terminal’s well-known ‘sugar wharf’. With the two companies working together, Rivergate’s Manager, Andrew Cannon, announced the new capability saying: "We accommodate vessels of all sizes here at Rivergate, but of course a major focus will always be on those bigger projects. In the last 12 months we have carried out refit work on seven superyachts.
We’re really proud of how the business has continued to grow, and of this latest alliance. We see this as not only a great opportunity for Rivergate, but for the marine industry as a whole," Mr Cannon added.
Cannon explained that Rivergate’s decision to expand is in response to an ongoing interest from larger vessels. The opportunity has been made possible due to a continuing alliance between Rivergate and QBT.
This additional berth means superyachts will have an opportunity to appoint an award-winning project management team for significant refit works, repairs and maintenance in South-East Queensland for the first time ever.
The berth, located only minutes from Rivergate is highly secure, with private and controlled areas, has fuel transfer capabilities, vehicle, crane and pedestrian access, three-phase power and water.
"It’s an exciting time for the marine industry in Queensland," Cannon said. "And we’re looking forward to the projects this new berth will bring into Rivergate".
