Riva has released a 76ft convertible, the new 76’ Bahamas, which introduces a patented “C-Top” system that enables the yacht to be transformed from open to coupé model in 90 seconds. James Bond to a T.
The aerodynamic roof is made of carbon fibre and the folding mechanism is operated by carbon fibre struts with a polished carbon finish. When raised from the forward cowling, the roof positions itself and hooks onto the windscreen and carbon fibre roll bar in coupé mode. Top down, it's all wind in the hair baby.
The housing space for the various antennas and satellite systems is built into the roll bar, which also features a striking central “fin” with the stainless steel mast for the navigation lights and aerials.
The electric locking system of the roof, windscreen and roll bar, automatically activates once the roof is positioned over the cockpit, thereby completing the normal opening-closing sequence, Riva says.
Based on initial testing the entire movement is completed in approximately 90 seconds (preliminary data). And in that time, Riva says the C Top on the new 76’ Bahamas effectively doubles the comfort and fun to be enjoyed onboard.
"The new convertible epitomises the synergy between excellence in yacht design and excellence in naval engineering that has produced a super sports boat," says Alberto Galassi, Chief Executive Officer of the Ferretti Group.
"With graceful lines and rich in technical features, it is built using cutting-edge materials and sails like a dream. Owners will enjoy an unforgettable experience thanks to the sophisticated Mediterranean lifestyle offered by this yacht."
The new 76’ Bahamas is a further step in the evolutionary path that led to the launch, in May 2015, of the 88’ Domino Super and 88’ Florida, the flagship coupé and convertible yachts. The new model is based on the hull of the 76’ Perseo, Riva’s much-desired smaller coupé.
But the layout of the cockpit and helm station, master suite and lower deck living space, along with the entire interior styling, have been custom designed for the new 76’ Bahamas convertible.
The aerodynamic profile of the hull, in Shark Grey with contrasting detailing in 'Bright Black', features generous hull glazing intersected by the Riva logo in chrome-plated steel.
On the lower deck, the master stroke in the three-cabin layout is the full-beam master suite, the exclusive lounge area, and arguably the three Italian en suites.
Underway, a pair of 1550hp MAN V12 engines with vee-drives and VIM adjustable-pitch propellers give 32 knots and a cruising speed of 28 knots, with optional 1800hp MANs boosting top speed to 37 knots, predicts Riva. And that's top up or down! More at the www.ferrettigroup.com.
