Riva announces two new 88s: Video

The 88’ Domino Super – the heir of one of the best sellers in the brand’s sporty line – will make its debut with a world premiere in September, during the 2015 Cannes Yachting Festival.

"The 88’ Domino Super is much more than simply a restyling," said Ferretti Group’s Chief Commercial Officer, Stefano de Vivo at a preview in Monte Carlo. "It is the result of a painstaking design process aimed at further improving a very successful model, which can boast a sales record of approximately twenty hulls produced and sold all over the world.

"The outcome of this process can now be admired on the 88’ Domino Super, as well as the 88’ Florida, which we will be proud to present on the same occasion.

"These two new models will brighten the Summer season and will be in the spotlight – together with the third new Riva, the 76' coupé – at the next Cannes Yachting Festival, where they will be presented to the public."

Mr. de Vivo said the 88’ Domino Super is bound to set new standards in the yachting sector in terms of style, comfort and performance. It boasts an overall length of 26.70 meters (87.7’) and a beam of 6.30 meters (20.8’) it is the result of the cooperation between Officina Italiana Design – the design firm led by Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta that pencils the entire Riva range – and Ferretti Group’s Engineering Department.

"This yacht immediately strikes the eye for its slender, streamlined profile, which is further highlighted by the colour of the hull, a dark grey that has been named London Grey. The same innovative colour shade can also be found in some deck details and harmoniously contrasts the light grey (Moon Grey) of the superstructure," he said.

Other important design features:

>> The outdoor helm station has been moved to the central part of the boat and has a very limited size, thereby making room for a large sofa at the bow

>> The fully-restyled aft area completes the yacht’s dynamic features; its outstanding technical equipment and solutions perfectly harmonise with the craft’s sporty look and offer additional comfort to guests, making technical operations extremely easy.

88 Florida
The 88’ Florida which has a 26.84-metre (88ft. 1in.) overall length and a beam of 6.22 meters (20ft. 5in.) is, like the Domino Super, the result of the close co-operation between Ferretti and designers Mauro Micheli, and Sergio Beretta.

The first 88’ Florida also features the new Moon Grey light metallic colour, which is in pleasant contrast with the ‘Bright Black' shade details.
The hull profile is unique thanks to the continuous glazing featuring a stainless-steel plate that bears the Riva logo in its central part. The large windshield and the steel targa bar complete this new yacht’s design.

Patented Convertible Top system
The 88’ Florida is unique due to its innovative system that combines two sporty souls in one yacht: an exclusive Ferretti Group patent that has been installed for the very first time on this craft.

The Convertible Top system makes the yacht capable of shifting from an open to a coupé configuration and vice versa by automatically operating the hard top that can cover the helm station in the cockpit.

A pantograph hydraulic mechanism drives two arms connected to the hard top and is controlled by an electronic power unit that ensures the smooth, uninterrupted movement of every component. This system, which is operated by a single control, is monitored by sensors installed near the individual moving parts, and the entire procedure is displayed on the Naviop touch screen display at the helm station.

Riva says the hard top has been perfectly integrated in both the deckhouse shape and the windshield and targa bar profiles. When it is stored forward, it is kept in place by its own arms, securely connected to the main body. In the coupé configuration, the hard top is mechanically locked on the windshield and anchored onto the targa bar by means of two electro-hydraulic anchoring systems.

In order to close the cockpit completely when the boat is in the coupé configuration, the owner can decide to install a series of lateral see-through awnings.

Interiors
Both interiors offer full-beam master cabins with ensuites and either three or four guest cabins also with ensuites.

The rearrangement of the bow area in the Domino Super has led to a partial restyling of the galley. Located on the mezzanine floor, it can also be accessed directly from the portside outdoor walkway; it has no ceiling panels and thus makes the most of the incredible amount of light from both the hull glazing and the windshield.

Aboard the Florida, the central area is arranged as a large dining and living room – the perfect setting to sip a drink, have lunch or dinner admiring the sky and the stars, or relax sheltered by the hard top.

A linear sofa to starboard stands opposite the dining area, which is furnished with another L-shaped sofa near the table. Some freestanding seats complete the furniture and allow to seat up to eight dining guests.

The large helm station features three seats, the left of which is a chaise longue facing the stern where one can relax while experiencing the thrill of cruising, we’re told.

Engines and Performance
Both new yachts will be fitted with two MTU 16 V 2000 M93, 2435mhp engines giving a maximum speed of 38.5 knots and a cruising speed of 34 knots, ensuring a range of 310 and 340 nautical miles respectively. A more powerful engine configuration features two MTU 16 V 2000 M94, 2638mhp engines that will push the craft to a maximum speed of 40.5 knots and a cruising speed of 35 knots, ensuring a range of 300 and 330 nautical miles respectively (preliminary data).
