Revolutionary new Suzuki DF325A runs on regular fuel

Suzuki Marine launches new game-changing 325hp four-stroke outboard that can run on 91 RON regular petrol

Suzuki Motor Corporation has released a new DF325A four-stroke outboard that is said to perfectly balance power and thrust within a lightweight and stylish design. It also runs on regular petrol, thought to be a first for a 300hp-plus outboard, delivering some potentially big savings at the pump.

Unveiled at the recent 2018 Düsseldorf International Boat Show in Germany, the high-tech and innovative DF325A has been designed to be robust, easy to use and versatile.

Suzuki Australia says it’s the ideal outboard for large boats, whatever the task and whether for commercial or recreational use. There is certainly a global boating trend to bigger and bigger outboard-powered boats these days.

The new DF325A shares the same revolutionary technologies as the recently-launched flagship DF350A, including counter-rotating propellers, a dual-louver system and dual injectors.

But Suzuki has stepped it up with the new model by engineering it to run on 91 RON fuel — said to be a world first and game changer for high-performance outboards over 300 horsepower.

Osawa Yasuharu, Executive General Manager, Global Marine and Power Products Operation, Suzuki Motor Corporation said the DF325A is a welcome addition to Suzuki’s range of ultimate 4-stroke outboards.

“The latest high spec, high output outboards all require high octane fuel. As far as we know, there is no other outboard over 300hp that runs on RON 91, which is regular fuel in some key markets,” said Mr Yasuharu.

“This also makes the DF325A a very attractive outboard for the commercial sector as it is packed with the very latest outboard technologies, which will deliver the ultimate boating experience,” Mr Yasuharu said.

Suzuki’s latest outboard features its proven 4.4 litre displacement block that, we can attest after testing the DF350A, delivers tremendous torque and makes it the largest displacement V6 on the market today.

Combined with a compression ratio of 10.5:1, the DF325A also delivers impressive fuel economy and reliability, Suzuki enthuses.

The DF325A will be produced at the Toyokawa Plant in Japan, with first deliveries expected in March, 2018.

Main features of DF325A include:
>> Compact, 4390 sq cm four-stroke V6 cylinder engine giving tremendous torque and largest displacement V6 on the market today.
>> Compression ratio of 10.5:1 to deliver impressive fuel efficiency and reliability
>> Revolutionary direct intake system and dual louver system for cool and dry air to ensure a direct flow of air, while eliminating water intake, even in the face of the most severe on-water testing.
>> Dual Louver System incorporates a double shield of blades, each one designed in a dog-leg shape. The outer row of blades removes the spray from the boat and the inner louvers capture and drain the remaining mist. As a result, intake air is free of moisture and kept close to ambient temperature.
>> Contra-rotating propellers in the Suzuki Dual Prop System provide more grip underwater. Because contra-rotating propellers distribute the engine's torque evenly, the torque per propeller decreases and gear diameter can be reduced. A reduction in gear diameter has allowed the design of a smaller and far more hydrodynamic gearcase.
>> Innovative styling, with sporty, aggressive, and eye-catching outline.
