Revival’s ‘X-Console’ centre console concept teased

Revival gives us a sneak peek at its 580XC concept that could one day become a production model

Victorian fibreglass trailer boat specialist Revival has teased its “X-Console” centre console concept, the Revival 580XC.

The prototype centre console boat, the first the company that has traditionally specialised in cuddy cabins and bowriders has built, is shown wearing an optional T-top.

However, what’s not in the image is the Revival 580XC’s combination leaning post and live bait tank – after all, there has to be some surprise when the boat is revealed in full.

Underneath the Revival 580XC is the same 19-foot hull developed for the Revival R580 cuddy cabin boat and Revival 560 X-rider bowrider, although the centre console design includes all-new deck mouldings to accommodate the central helm layout and provide an uninterrupted 360-degree walkaround space.

The bow appears to include a mount for an electric trolling motor

Apart from the bow roller and a hawser for an electric anchor winch, there appears to be next to no brightwork fitted to the boat, meaning the fit-out is still not complete.

Looking from the front, the bow is fitted with a mount for an electric trolling motor – a feature that will only add to its offshore fishing ability.

Customer pull

Revival Boats owner Sam Catanese said dealers and customers had been pushing the factory for years to release a centre console.

“You wouldn’t believe the pressure we’ve been under to get this boat off the drawing board, but I was adamant that if we were going to do it, we would do it right and do it the Revival way,” Catanese said.

A nice deep-vee hull with Yamaha performance on tap

Revival has also teased that the X-Console will get a similar set-up to the bowrider model with a forward raised casting deck that can convert to a sun lounge with the addition of a few infill cushions.

This will make the Revival 580XC ideal for a family day out when the fishing rods are left at home.

Design aims

According to Revival, the new design aims for the best in storage, ergonomics and lifestyle options that Revival claims are rarely seen in an affordable fibreglass centre console boat. That will extend to the helm, which is expected to treat the crew with the same level of comfort as the skipper.

It will include an optional standing headroom console that can be used as a changeroom or even be fitted with a toilet to make family trips more user-friendly.

We're going to have to wait a little longer before we see the helm leaning post

The boat shown is a pre-production model that, once it is confirmed as going ahead, will be used to shape the look and feel of the production model.

The centre console concept was completely designed in-house at revival’s Bayswater factory in eastern suburban Melbourne.

Easy to move

In its cuddy cab form as the Revival R580, the hull's performance is rated to between 115hp to 175hp. The cuddy version weighs around 1650kg on the trailer, making it easy to tow behind a mid-size family car.

Revival describes the R580 as the “Swiss army knife” of its fishing fleet, blending “the versatility of a walk-through runabout with the added security of a generous cabin”.

Similar to the Revival R580, the Revival 580XC is expected to have a 130-litre fuel tank mounted centrally – with the option of upgrading it to 200 litres – and a large underfloor moulded fish locker.

The Revival R580 is sold as either a family-friendly SportZ package or with a fishing-friendly Offshore package featuring extras such as full clears and tackle storage.

Revival has dealers based in every state and territory apart from the ACT.
