Regulator 34SS arrives in Australia

Regulator, the U.S. centre console brand famous for its deep-vee hulls, is making an impact in Australia with a new 34SS in WA and more on the way

It hasn't happened overnight, but the famous U.S. sportfisher brand Regulator from North Carolina is making inroads in Australia.

Following the arrival of the Regulator 23 Centre Console that we tested way back in 2016, there are now six of the deep-vee 23-footers and a 28-footer plying offshore waters Down Under.

The U.S. launch of a new 31-footer, a redesigned 25 footer, and an updated flagship 41-foot centre console have sparked more interest in the brand locally.

FLAGSHIP 41 ON ITS WAY
With seven Regulators in the country and more on the way in the hot centre console market, local agents and importers One Brokerage are excited to be representing the brand.

After returning from the Miami International Boat Show, importer Glen Moltoni said he was now working on the next shipment of boats.

"We have two Regulators in Perth and five in Queensland and NSW, including a couple that are fishing pretty hard and at the tournaments," Moltoni said.

"We now have a 28 coming in August and a flagship 41 confirmed and deposited for the end of the year," he adds.

The flagship in the fleet, the Regulator 41 runs quad 350hp V8 Yamaha outboards. But as Moltoni say, there's a lot of speculation about a bigger Yamaha outboard on its way and by May he'll have a better idea of the power options on this impressive centre console.

NEW 34SS IN WA
Meantime, a new 34SS triple rig that has just arrived in WA, where it featured in a stunning photo shoot at Rottnest Island.

The SS part of the 34SS is short for Starboard Seating. Unlike the centre consoles in the fleet, the 34SS has C-shaped bow seating and a single portside companionway. It's a bit more of a social cross-over boat but without compromising fishability.

Down below, there's a sink, toilet and double berth, allowing for overnight and weekend stays between fishing and dive trips. A cockpit galley with grill is among the many options.

With triple 300hp Yamaha V6 outboards, 1325lt of fuel and a 5132kg (dry) rig weight, the 34SS apparently made light work of reach Rottnest.

One Brokerage was staging a demo day on March 24 for the 34SS out of its Fremantle offices.

Famous for their deep-vee hulls with 24-degrees of deadrise, and their robust and seriously heavy build, the Regulator centre consoles have a big reputation for their offshore ride. More with Regulator on our sites and Regulator Marine.
