US luxury leisure boat brand Regal has launched an all-new model it claims is the world’s largest wake boat, the Regal 38 Surf.
Measuring just shy of 12.0 metres in length overall and with a 3.6-metre beam, the Regal 38 Surf features a no-ballast wake system, growling Volvo Penta 5.3-litre V8 inboard engines, easy access to the water via a lowering step, and a four-seat helm station.
The hard-topped Regal 38 Surf features a bowrider design with a forward lounge offset to starboard, easy access past the console via a port side companionway, an island galley station and a spacious aft cockpit.
Note that we said this is a surf boat that uses no ballast? Instead, Regal claims the 38 Surf uses its size and twin V8 FWD Volvo Penta forward drives running forward-facing Duoprop propellers that were specifically developed for watersports-focussed boats to create its big wakes.
“Thanks to its size and layout, the 38 Surf features a one-of-a-kind experience,” Regal said in a statement announcing the new model.
“Due to our innovative surf system, including dual 22.0-inch [Volvo Penta] Glass Cockpit displays and no ballast to fill, the world's largest surf boat creates an impressively long wave with tons of push.”
The new model also features the most advanced technology available, including digital switching to help balance the Regal 28 Surf’s electrical needs, joystick control for easy low-speed moves, Slideaway seats that create more room aft at the press of a button, and the option to add a Seakeeper gyroscopic stabiliser to smooth out rough waters either on the move or at rest.
A galley station behind the helm features two fridges, a grill, sink, a rubbish bin and plenty of storage. The four captain’s chairs that sit behind the helm station can rotate to face aft, while the transom lounge can convert to either upright seating or drop down to become a large sun lounge.
The boat is also built for when the sun goes down, featuring an array of LED lights above and below the waterline that can change colour to match the mood.
Beneath the console is a large mid-cabin lounge space with full standing headroom that converts into queen-bed stateroom at the press of a button if the plan is to extend the trip beyond a day. Below decks also houses an enclosed head and a separate walk-in shower, and a forward lounge that also doubles as a berth.
If you aren’t a fan of inboard power, the regal 38 Surf also comes as the 38 SAV – which stands for “sports activity vehicle” – featuring triple outboard engines
Other Regal 38 Surf features include entry doors built into each side of the coamings, transom gates, a Fusion audio system, an electric awning for the cockpit space, storage and space for an ice box built in under the helm seats, trim tabs, a retractable sunroof in the hartdtop, windscreen wipers, a microwave in the below-decks convenience centre, airconditioning, a bow thruster, remote control for the anchor windlass, a water heater and a 7.5kW genset.
No Australian pricing was announced for the Regal 38 Surf, but US pricing for a basic package starts from around $US800,000 ($A1.2 million).
