For the fifth year running, Fisheries Victoria in partnership with VRFish will be holding 11 recreational fishing regional forums across the state in June and July of this year.
Popular fishing personalities will be coming along too. Rex Hunt will be sharing his knowledge at the Greensborough forum. Merv Hughes, author of Caught in the Deep, will be on pace at the Nagambie, Bendigo, Inverloch and Lakes Entrance forums.
The forums have proved to be a great success over the years, with a significant number of fishers from different demographics in attendance.
These forums provide fishers with the opportunity to have their say about growing recreational fishing in Victoria and learn more about what Fisheries Victoria is doing to improve fishing opportunities.
There have been a number of great suggestions made by fishers in the past.
Consulting widely with recreational fishers is a commitment in the State Government’s $16.2 million Recreational Fishing Initiative.
Fishers from multicultural communities are encouraged to attend the forum at Werribee during Refugee Week while hearing from female fishers is the focus of the Wodonga forum.
Werribee, Thursday 20, 10am - 2pm Werribee Baptist Church, Cnr Heaths Rd and Derrimut Rd
Wodonga, Tuesday 25, 7.00pm DPI Office, 1 McKoy St, Kiewa Room
An additional forum to be held in Torquay on Wednesday July 3 has just been announced. This forum will run from 7pm at the Torquay Angling Club, The Esplanade, Fisherman’s Beach, Torquay.
If you can't make it along on the night, email your ideas to improving.fishing@dpi.vic.gov.au or post them on DPI Facebook Page.
