Product Safety Australia has issued a recall dated June 21, 2017, for Mercury Verado L6 (200hp to 350hp) outboard engines due to a head-screw issue that could compromise the product's steering performance.
The recall involving the supplier Marine Power International says the steering-head screws may not have been torqued correctly during manufacture.
Steering head screws that are incorrectly torqued could compromise this product's steering performance. This could lead to difficulty steering or controlling the boat.
Consumers are warned not to operate the engine until it has been inspected by the dealer and, if necessary, rectified.
However, Mercury Marine says only nine engines were affected of which four were sold and all the engines have been checked.
