The edge
Perth boat manufacturer SeaQuest has added a new budget aluminium runabout/fisher, the Edge 4.9, to its Razerline range.
SeaQuest owner Stewart Maughan said the 4.9m Edge was a basic entry level boat, lacking some of the standard features of Razerline’s other models, such as a transom door, but designed to make it an attractive trailerboat at the affordable end of the market.
"It is a good quality, basic boat designed to look appealing with performance," said Maughan.
"All our other small boats like the Eclipse and the WA Classic are cap chined, but the Edge is stepped chined like a fibreglass boat and this creates more buoyancy, gets on to the plane quicker and has increased stability at rest," he said.
Maughan said plans were to have two models in the Edge range with a 5.2m on the drawing board and possibly a third centre console model as well.
The Edge is also a quicker boat to build, said Maughan, taking a week to construct compared to the Eclipse which takes a week and half to manufacture.
With a hull weight of 500kg, Maughan said the Edge 4.9 retails from $30,000 in a motor and trailer package.
The manufacturer said the Razerline Edge 4.9 with its 4mm side and keel sheets, a 3mm self draining deck, six stringers and full depth frames provide the owner with a robust, durable pleasure craft which will last a lifetime and add to its resale value.
SeaQuest said that with a stylish raised dash, the boat has the spacious feeling of its larger counterparts, including a soft, dry, stable ride supplied by the reversed stepped chine, while the higher sides, foam flotation and bilge pump cater for safety.
There are a host of standard features, said SeaQuest, including bimini, baitboard, rodholders, 100lt fuel tank and plenty of stowage.
The 4.9 Edge has the big boat feel, said SeaQuest, but is easy to tow with a modest vehicle on a single axle trailer at an affordable price. It is available in a range of colours and comes with a seven-year structural warranty.
The edge takes the Razerline to 11 models, from the 4.7m Eclipse Runabout through the Olympian blue water fishers up to the top of the range 7.2m Sports Hardtop.
