Raymarine has launched YachtSense, a new generation of plug-and-play digital controls for motor yachts aimed at making life easy for installers and owners.
The new system is built around a single master module that is the hub of the network, and a single power supply module. Installers or owners then just need to plug in modules that connect to onboard devices and systems such as lighting, pumps, winches, swim platforms and audio.
It can even control generators, air-conditioning systems and “other” mechanical systems.
“YachtSense’s customised Axiom user interface options empower marine manufacturers and installers to create modern and elegant vessel automation solutions,” Raymarine said.
“These give captains total control of every onboard system with simple, touchscreen operation from any Axiom mutlifunction display.”
Raymarine says the new YachtSense system uses three levels of electrical redundancy, while the master module is equipped with an integrated keypad and LCD screen for manual override.
The system has already been trialled on a SACS Marine Rebel 55, a 38-knot, 1400hp 15-metre dayboat built in Italy.

Raymarine also provided an update on its DockSense assisted docking system, with two versions now in development; DockSense Alert that warns the skipper of obstacles, and DockSense Control, which assists the skipper to stay clear of obstacles.
Raymarine said while it already had DockSense Control working with outboard engines and pod drives, it was now focussing on a system for inboard engines that would work with stern drives and third-party bow thrusters.
It said an operational system already installed on a Hardy 42 test boat had already shown it was “capable of coping with strong winds and tides”.
