Raymarine has officially rolled out the fourth generation of its LightHouse operating system for Axiom multifunction displays, making the software free for all users to download.
The software update, which Raymarine says makes the system much easier for owners to use, can be downloaded to all Axiom, Axiom+, Axiom Pro, and Axiom XL devices.

Of note, the system upgrade includes a revised menu structure that makes it much more simple to navigate. Owners also will be able to personalise their Axiom device with images of their boat to make it more familiar.
Significantly, the system now includes better integration with Mercury outboard and inboard engines and better integration with Navionics charts.
Even the Axiom home screen is different, featuring new-look dynamic tiles that can push live navigation, NMEA2000 and SeaTalkNG data as soon as the unit is switched on.
“New LightHouse 4 OS provides a refined visual experience,” Raymarine said.
“Simplified menus make tapping into the power of Axiom faster and easier than ever. Longer pull-up menus are now nested and more intuitive to read and operate.
“LightHouse Apps that integrate control or provide information from marine integration partners like Seakeeper, Victron, Lumishore, and a host of others are now launchable directly from the LightHouse Home Screen, and key LightHouse Apps are now viewable in split-screen configurations.
“Additionally, the critical MOB touch key has been relocated to share prominent space on the home screen.”
LightHouse 4’s support for Mercury’s Vessel View, used to show detailed engine running information to the skipper, adds an active exhaust volume control, a new and refined engine data summary page, and more.
North American users will benefit from the inclusion of Sirius XM Marine’s Fish Mapping system that can identify places that are likely to hold fish via the Garmin GXM 54 receiver,
“LightHouse 4 delivers a host of additional key upgrades, including active route line visual enhancements, new levels of audio control, and more,” Raymarine said.
“Of particular interest to Navionics chart users, LightHouse 4 beautifully supports the display of high-resolution bathymetric data and satellite imagery that comes bundled with new Navionics Platinum+ charts.”
