Raymarine’s YachtSense Link system has earned itself an industry accolade as one of the most innovative bits of boat electronics released in 2022, the company has announced.
Raymarine said it had picked up the prestigious 2022 DAME Award at METSTRADE, the annual convention for marine accessories worldwide, for the marine electronics and marine-related software category.
YachtSense Link is a marine-grade router that links into Raymarine’s Raynet ethernet ports that connects a boat’s electronics, ranging from sounders and chartplotters to marine radios and inboard and outboard engines.
It allows users to connect to the router using a smartphone or tablet and monitor the boat’s real-time performance from anywhere they have a wireless connection to the YachtSense Link hub. It can also link to other Raymarine devices, as well as laptop computers.
It will also allow users to use the Raymarine smartphone and tablet app to control functions on the boat, such as switching on pumps or lights, as well as managing battery loads.
Owners can also geofence the boat so that it is restricted to certain areas such as a marina while the owner is not near it.
Raymarine general manager Gregoire Outters said the marine electronics group was thrilled with the award announcement.
“We are constantly aiming to deliver high-performance systems that make boating more stress-free, in which onboard connectivity is crucial,” Outters said.
“We are delighted to be recognised for YachtSense Link, an integral part of the new YachtSense Ecosystem which enables complete onboard and off-board integration for a smart home on the water.”
The YachtSense digital control system is built around a central hub with three inbuilt layers of redundancy, with owners able to plug in specific modules to expand the system as the boat’s electronics suite grows.
