There are not too many marine businesses in Australia that can boast 70 years of continuous service to the industry but 2015 will see Quintrex achieve that milestone.
One can only imagine how many kids caught their first fish out of a Quintrex tinnie, or how many thousands of hours of family fun have been had in these affordable Aussie boats.
Quintrex’s beginnings date back to 1945 when the first Quintrex was built by founder Terry Quantrall in Kirrawee, Sydney, and over the decades the brand has developed into the market-leading business it is today.
Early innovation saw the development of the flared bow, which became a defining Quintrex feature produced with stretch-forming technology still used today to create the characteristic soft riding, water deflecting hull.
Quintrex says that while soft-riding hull can still be recognised, the range of boats on offer has constantly evolved over the years with continuous work from Quintrex’s expert research and development team.
Originally Quintrex boats were of the open variety sized from 10, 12 and 14 feet and came at a time when aluminium wasn’t highly regarded in the boating industry.
Fast forward 70 years and aluminium boats are a favourite among Australians loved for their durability and the Quintrex range features over 99 models including cabins, bowriders, runabouts and, of course, the good ol' open tinnie.
Today, still proudly Australian owned and made, the Quintrex brand is known for its quality, durability and re-sale value.
The company is now based in Queensland where it moved to in the 1980s and the huge factory complex employs over 230 staff, produces more than 1000 Quintrex boats a year and has an extensive dealer network Australia wide.
Director of Sales and Marketing Damien Duncan said generations of Australians had grown up boating in Quinnies and it was their loyal customers over the years that had helped shaped the brand to what it was today.
"Quintrex has brought so much enjoyment to so many Australian families over the last 70 years we can’t thank our customers, dealers and business partners enough for their support and we hope everyone enjoys what we have in store for the future," Damien added.
