The new Quintrex Territory Legend models boast more features, a redesigned helm station and a beefed-up hull bottom to make these rear-console models tougher than ever. We utilised the flagship 610 Territory Legend for this review, paired with a Mercury 175hp V6 four-stroke outboard and riding on a deluxe Quintrex alloy trailer.
Quintrex launched the Territory Legend rear/aft console boats some years ago to cater for northern barra fishermen and for anglers who fish from the bow of the boat, sight casting off the elevated front fishing deck.
The Territory Legend range was then updated in 2023 to feature three models: the 540, 590 and 610 Territory Legends.
For 2025, the Territory Legends have received another update. The range has been consolidated into two models – the 560 and 610 – and revamped with additional features, an enlarged casting deck, new helm console and a sturdier 5mm thick hull bottom.
For this review we secured the range-topping 610 sporting the eye-catching new Sandbar colour.
The Quintrex 610 Territory Legend is available with packages starting from $86,625 when the boat is paired with a Mercury 150hp four-stroke outboard and Quintrex dual-axle alloy trailer.
Base boats are decently equipped too, with features like the carpeted cockpit and front deck, extra-wide side decks (now surfaced with U-Dek foam rubber), port side live bait tank, scupper self-draining system, six built-in stainless steel rod holders, a single-person wide helm console and three pedestal chairs with six floor-sockets.
Our test boat was paired with a larger Mercury 175hp V6 outboard (with hydraulic steering, digital throttle and shift), and optioned with a Garmin GPSMap 8412xsv, Savwinch electric drum winch and rode, Fusion RA60 sound system, GMX GX750B VHF radio, Zipwake KB300s trim tabs, carpeted composite flooring (instead of carpet over plywood), transom bait board and berley bucket, side pocket vertical rod racks, hand-wash outlet, two 140L fuel tanks, trolling motor bracket, Sandbar hull paint, and more.
Riding on the tandem-axle alloy Quintrex braked trailer, our test boat is priced at $126,015.
The Territory Legend is a high-sided pressed alloy monohull with a narrow, single-person-wide helm console positioned well aft – fronting a central pedestal helm chair.
The helm is set up with the steering wheel offset to the port side, throttle box to starboard. This configuration works well with single and dual-person wide console units.
Pedestal floor sockets to each side of the helm chair allow for two passengers to sit alongside the skipper – albeit a little exposed to the wind/weather.
There’s also a pedestal socket up on the casting deck so that one of the three included chairs can be perched up front for someone to fish comfortably off the bow.
Two more pedestal floor sockets ahead of the console increase the possible number of seat positions to six.
The rear mounted centre console is simple but practical in design. There’s ample space for a large flat screen display alongside the Mercury engine gauge, switch panel and other controls.
The console also has an acrylic windshield with alloy frame/grab rail, a cup/drink holder, and storage shelves underneath.
Up at the pointy end there is a good-sized anchor well (with optional drum winch) forward of a very large 1.43m long and 2.2m wide elevated casting deck.
This pleasingly wide fishing platform is flanked by U-Dek trimmed side decks and the optional electric trolling motor plate.
The front deck sits up high, just below the gunwale line so that anglers stand with a heightened view for sighting bait schools, fish haunts and individual fish in shallows and weed beds, etc.
Beneath the elevated deck there is a spacious storage area for a large ice box, safety gear, fenders and more.
A gas-strut support keeps the carpeted (front side and back) hatch in the open position so you can reach into the compartment with both hands.
A second, smaller access hatch is situated forward, up near the anchorwell.
The carpeted aft cockpit stretches 2.8m from the front fishing deck back to the 635mm high, and full-width transom wall.
There is thigh-height freeboard down each side of the boat as well – the 315mm wide side coamings elevated 640mm above the main cockpit floor.
Beneath the side decks there are full-length storage pockets for stowing fishing tackle, deck lines, fenders, fishing nets, etc.
Included with every Territory Legend are six flush-fitted stainless steel rod holders – with the option to upgrade to the swivelling Exploding Fish models.
You also get four coaming cup holders.
Across the transom, above the twin scupper floor drains, there is a transom door/step (optional) on the starboard side, a live bait tank with viewing window to port, and sub-floor battery shelf in between.
Overhead our test boat was optioned with a base model white cutting board equipped with two rod holders, a nylon cutting surface and a knife/tool recess.
Externally the Territory Legend has a folding dive/boarding ladder on the starboard side, opposite the optional burley bucket fitted to our test rig.
The Territory Legend delivers a smooth, stable and dry ride, thanks to the use of the Quintrex flared-bow, variable deadrise “Blade” hull bottom that has been fine-tuned over many years.
The Blade hull is a stand-out within this class of boat and within the Quintrex range. It is based on the original “Millennium” hull Quintrex debuted back in 1999 – but with continual upgrades to improve handling, balance, ride and performance.
The Blade hull works well across a range of hull sizes but really delivers in the 6m size range; the test boat was surprisingly comfortable in choppy and variable bay/sea conditions, yet stable, predictable and responsive to changes in trim angle and throttle input.
The test boat was decently quick too – accelerating to 38.5 knots (71.2km/h) at 5200 rpm.
There’s enough power here to haul a skier or wake-boarder and to carry lots of gear and tackle for an offshore fishing trip.
