BRP Australia, a subsidiary of Bombardier Recreational Products is partnering with Sea-Doo ambassador and V8 racing champ Greg Murphy to launch the Courtesy Rider Program on the Gold and Sunshine coasts.
The program will be launched NBN TV on the 'Out and About' show on June 17, 11.30am.
The Courtesy Rider Program is part of ongoing efforts by PWC manufacturer Sea-Doo to promote rider education and safety.
BRP Australia's David Heyes said the introduction of the program to Queensland followed its success in Victoria, where it had operated for five years.
"A managed CRP is critical to the education of PWC users," he said. "We have proven that increased education and training is a far more effective means of improving rider behaviour than the restriction of riding areas or waterway access."
He said the Queensland program would run in conjunction with the water police, councils, and Maritime Queensland.
New Sea-Doo PWC buyers will be briefed on craft use and code of conduct by Sea-Doo's authorised dealer network. They will also receive a training video and a Sea-Doo-produced PWC safety booklet.
As part of the program a brochure, to be dropped in letterboxes, has been developed to inform residents of the initiative. It includes information about the changes in PWC technology over the past five years in respect of low noise and low emission levels.
