Prestige Ultima 1750i

Launched early last year, the Ultima 1750i is the flagship of the Bendigo (Vic) manufacturer's two-model range. It is marketed alongside the Pulse 1800, which is aimed at the budget buyer.

According to Hughes, the 17ft Ultima is the best inboard powered boat on the market for barefoot skiing. The Ultima's hull was specifically designed to produce a turbulence-free wake for barefoot and slalom skiing, he adds.

At the same time, the 18° deadrise hull produces a fair wash and nice curl for wakeboarders, he says.

Measuring 5.3m with a 2.1m beam, the standard Ultima package is powered by a Ski Torque Chevrolet 350 inboard. Built locally, the V-eight engine is rated at 270hp, and takes the Ultima to a top speed of around 90kmh, using between 12-14lt of fuel per hour, the company says.

The Ultima has a maximum rating of around 330hp and can be fitted with any small block V-eight, Hughes says.

The weight on the trailer is 1150kg. With an overall length of around 5.7m (19ft) including trailer, the 1750i is suitable to fit in most standard garages.

The Ultima's fibreglass hull is finished with a high performance gelcoat and features an integrated swim platform as standard.

Seating onboard includes a rearward-facing dual observer lounge, an upholstered helm chair and a rear lounge.

The instrument panel incorporates seven gauges, including fuel and hour meter.

A ski locker is located forward, while further storage is provided underseat and in a glove compartment at the helm.

Marine carpet is fitted throughout and drink holders and grab handles are fitted as standard.

A centre ski pylon, training boom, stereo/CD, bimini top, and metal flake gelcoat are available as options.

All Prestige boats can be purchased in standard configuration as listed or can be customised to suit individual requirements.

Prices for the Ultima 1750i start from $22,490, fitted with soft clutch and rolling on a braked single-axle trailer.
