Powerboat handling and marine safety courses

A series of information and training courses will be conducted at the Royal Victorian Motor Yacht Club

The Royal Victorian Motor Yacht Club in association with Marine Safety Victoria is running a selection of free powerboat handling and marine safety courses from March to July 2009 to promote safer boating practices to the wider boating community.

The courses and dates are as follows -


  • Starting Out - March 11 - 18 & 25
  • Emergency Procedures - April 1 - 8
  • Vessel Handling - April 22 - 29
  • Marine Communications - May 6
  • Marine Radio Licence Course - May 13, 20 & 27 (at cost)
  • Meteorology for Small Craft - June 10
  • Basic Navigation - June 17
  • First Aid Level 1 - June 24, July 1 & 8 (at cost)
  • Rope Work - July 15


All sessions start at 7.30pm and the club bar and dining room are open from 5.30pm. Families are welcome.


Costs will vary according to courses selected and bookings are essential.
