Waverunners to the rescue on Bondi, Perth time trialling event, 24 Hours of Rouen, official launch of Marine Rescue NSW

With up to 50,000 people on Bondi Beach on a warm summer's day, the potential for human tragedy is ever present. Fortunately for swimmers and surfers, Waverly Council's professional lifeguards are on the beach year round, and supporting them is Yamaha with WaveRunners and Rhino work vehicles. More here.


The Lloyd Anderson Marathon Time Trialling Event is conducted by Perth's Claremont Yacht Club on the Swan River. Time trialling is an event that involves cruising and accurately maintaining a predetermined course between fixed marks at a nominated speed with ‘spies' posted to check times at the marks. Mercury Marine outboards dominated the field at the world's toughest endurance race - the 24 Hours of Rouen - at Rouen in France. The top nine finishers were powered by Mercury outboards in a race that puts both man and machine under incredible pressure. More here.


When pro fisherman Paul Sullivan decided to move up from his trusty aluminium trailer boat to a genuine sea going commercial fishing boat, he factored in an engine re-power from the outset. Details here.


The Class 1 World Powerboat Championship has added a new venue for 2009, announcing that the United Arab Emirates Capital, Abu Dhabi, will host its first Class 1 Grand Prix in November. More info here.
