The hard work behind breaking records, training and testing at Melbourne Boat Show, keep busy through winter and prepare for summer

When Sydney speed skier Lauryn Eagle broke the record for water skiing from Sydney to Newcastle and then turned around and skied back to Sydney, few would have appreciated the mammoth logistical feat that supported the superhuman effort. More here.


The Australian Volunteer Coast Guard Association will again be training and testing would-be boaties at the 49th Annual BIA Melbourne Boat Show. Three of the Coast Guard's top trainers will deliver a total of ten sessions from Thursday 2 July to Monday 6 July at the Show at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. More here.


For the month of July, Mercury Marine is offering ten percent off all service parts and a free twenty-point boat and trailer check in Australia and New Zealand. More info here.


Yamaha has thrown its support behind the Australian Professional Ocean Lifeguards Association (APOLA) with a range of sponsorship initiatives designed to back the dedicated lifesaving work of this national organisation. More here.


The Class 1 World Powerboat Championship will introduce a two-race Grand Prix format for the first time at the Norwegian Grand Prix in Arendal, 17-19 July. More details here.

The Boating Industry Association of NSW has launched a scheme that will not only keep avid boaties busy through winter, but also help get their boats ready for the peak summer season. More here.


MARINE INDUSTRY


Increased funding has been made available for recreational boating infrastructure projects under NSW Maritime's Better Boating Program. $5 million has been provided in the 2009-10 Program and applicants are invited to put forward projects they think may qualify. More here.


Marine Queensland speaks out over concerns regarding the increased levels of pollution being reported in waterways following recent storms. More here.


The Australian International Marine Export Group's (AIMEX) seminars have received an excellent response with over 100 companies attending so far. Get more here.

French marine industry FIN launches a boat-recycling organisation APER (Association for Eco-Responsible Boating) to organise and promote the recycling of unused or unfit boats in France, as well as systems for the disposal of other kinds of waste resulting from marine leisure. More details here.
