Power Equipment has won a prestigious business award, being declared the ‘best small business over the past 20 years’ at the Premier Regional Business Awards.
Power Equipment is the authorised Australian distributor for Yanmar diesel engines and JCB industrial diesel engines. The company recently relocated from Scoresby to their own purpose built premises at Lynbrook as a result of strong and sustained growth.
Over the past twenty years the Greater Dandenong Chamber of Commerce has staged the Premier Regional Business Awards. Power Equipment won the award for Best Small Business in 1997.
For the twenty year anniversary awards night, the organisers hit upon the concept of a “Best of the Best” theme. This involved a thorough review of all award winners in each category over the past twenty years, and declaring one company as the best in each category. The judging criteria included factors such as honesty, integrity, expertise and passion.
Company MD Allan Foster took to the stage to accept the award and make an acceptance speech.
“Since 1997 quite a bit has changed at Power Equipment,” Allan Foster said.
“In fact, I’m not sure that we are a small business any longer!”
“Over the past few years we have made five acquisitions, grown our staff to 100 employees and moved to bigger premises. We have also expanded from Yanmar distribution to also become the JCB distributor. And in addition to our Australian market, we have added New Zealand and the Pacific to our distribution zone.”
The Premier Regional Business Awards were presented at a black tie function staged at a packed Palladium Ballroom at Crown Casino in Melbourne. As an indication of the prestigious nature of the awards, Aussie Disposals, Hygain Feeds and Jayco Caravans were fellow award winners.
