Police search for missing yacht that departed Hervey Bay

Call to all boaties chasing information on the 34ft yacht 'Wayfarer' that has vanished with a man aboard after sailing out of Hervey Bay

Police are seeking assistance to help locate a vessel and a man that left the Hervey Bay Marina possibly lasted Wednesday (February 14) and hasn't been seen since. Nor has his 34 foot Manitou ketch.

Initial information suggests that the man in his 60s left Hervey Bay Marina on his yacht on February 14, but Queensland Water Police say he hasn’t been seen or made contact with anyone since.

Police hold concerns as the man’s behaviour is out of character and he didn’t leave travel plans with anyone or mention where he may be going.

His boat is a 34 foot Manitou ketch called Wayfarer and it is unknown which direction it was headed.

Anyone who has seen the man or his boat are being urged to contact the police.

If you have information for police, contact Policelink on 131 444 or provide information using the online form 24hrs per day.

There's been some terrible summer storms, cyclone swell and dramatic rescues in SE Queensland in recent weeks, prompting local Water Police to issue boating advice about extreme weather in SE Queensland.
