Polar Kraft aluminium boats from Nautic Global Group, the fourth largest boat manufacturer in America, are now being warmly received in Australia. But while the company builds dories, punts, walkthroughs, dual and side console tinnies, the big hit Down Under is found in the Bass Series.
National importer and dealer Dean Matthews from Bayview Marine says the bream, bass and barra market is keeping him well and truly afloat. He sold 29 Polar Kraft boats last year, but is already up to 25 this year.
By far his best seller is TX165. The turnkey rig sells for $25,500 with (maximum recommended) 60hp Mercury four stroke outboard on Dunbier trailer.
“It’s the hamburger with the lot,” Dean told Boatpoint and Boatsales with an excited tone in his voice.
“The boats have just gone nuts all round Australia,” he adds, pointing to the fact the water is back, the dams are full, and the flat-water fishing market is snapping.
There are eight different (high-gloss urethane) hull colours to choose from but the TX165 comes with a host of fishing features built-in.
Construction includes closed-cell foam floatation, longitudinal stringers, heavy-duty extruded gunwales, extruded alloy tubular transom, and extruded aluminium vee stem and formed-in keels.
The hull bottom is one-piece, welded every 25cm, while the decks are fitted with composite mooring cleats, navigation lights, reinforced bow and stern eyes. All fixings are stainless steel and no wood is used at all.
As part of the package you get a 1000gph bilge pump, a second live-well pump with timer, trolling motor and set-up, bow casting deck with pedestal base and outboard-engine trim button, rod straps, stern casting deck, lockable underfloor rod locker, tackle trays, inbuilt 45 litre fuel tank and more.
The local rig comes with upgraded seating, but you can also upgrade steering and electronics. A factory fitted Lowrance X4 Pro Fish Finder is standard, as is a Minn Kota 55 PD electric motor for sneaking up on them.
Polar Kraft have been tried and tested on the pro bass circuit in America. The warranty is five years, with Bayview Marine bundling the boat with safety gear and full registration.
Just add bait, ammo and ice and you’re fishing, says Dean Matthews from Bayview Marine. "Seriously, we've had guys drive down from Sydney to buy one and fish on the way home. You only need tackle and fuel and you're ready," Dean adds. See www.bayviewmarine.com. au, www.polarkraftboats.com.
