When you think of self-inflating floatation devices it is generally life rafts or inflatable PDFs that spring to mind -- but now Waterbuoy has come up with the smallest floatation device for your keys or your camera.
The Waterbuoy can lift 1kg back to the surface after it self-activates, enough lift to save keys, cameras and mobile phones. The thumb-sized device clips to whatever you think you might be likely to drop overboard.
The Waterbuoy's patented trigger mechanism is designed to inflate seconds after being submerged which means your valuables haven't got time to drift too far from a boat or a wharf before resurfacing. The device also comes with a flashing light to make it visible from some distance at night or in the early morning or evening when a great number of boaters are getting in or out of their vessels.
With a special, high-visibility balloon and water-tight seals, the Waterbuoy will stay afloat for 24 hours, with the light flashing.
While most boaters already know the problem with keys going overboard and attach some sort of cork or hollow plastic float to their keys, Waterbuoy's 1kg lifting capacity means that the growing number of digital cameras that are waterproof to a metre or so will pop back to the surface undamaged.
Now available Australia-wide from Marine Solutions online store for under $20, the Waterbuoy comes -- for a limited time -- with a waterproof pouch that is ideal for keeping mobile phones or wallets safe and dry.
