Having made its debut at the 2016 Cannes Yachting Festival, and impressed the American got-fast-boating public at the 57th Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the stunning new high-speed Pershing 5X is now ready for a private pen and performance.
With a length of 16.51m or 54ft 2in, and a maximum beam of 4.38m or 14ft 4in, the Pershing 5X is a yacht with super sporty lines. The aerodynamic superstructure is further enhanced by side wings protecting the cockpit, which have become a signature element of the marque, while the hull windows and elliptical portholes complete the "fighter jet" styling.
The revolutionary transom has an electro-hydraulic swim platform that allows easy launch and retrieval of the tender. The garage can be accessed from this aft beach area when the door is open, while the cockpit can be reached via a few steps or via the otherwise concealed passerelle.
The cockpit is fitted with a large sundeck, headrest and a second sofa. This area can be left separated or merged with the saloon thanks to a special electric opening and closing system for the glass door and glazed area that divide these two living zones. There is also an intermediate setting that is said to provide maximum safety when children are on board.
ITALIAN INTERIOR STYLE
Lacquered joinery and fabrics in soft grey shades are interspersed with darker and contrasting details in the interior living area. The flooring is finished in a complementary grey-tone oak, while an abundance of natural light and indirect LED lighting creates a warm atmosphere. Over the helm
station is a large sliding glass roof.
Below decks, the 5X is the first Pershing below 60 feet where the owner can enjoy a full-beam master suite with an ensuite bathroom and a dinette forward of the galley. An alternative layout puts the VIP cabin, equipped with bathroom that can be used as dayhead, up front with the dinette facing the galley.
Upon request, the dinette can be replaced by a third cabin with bunk
beds or a crew cabin. If the latter is selected, it can be accessed from
the outside, through the deck, to ensure maximum privacy for guests.
All these stylistic solutions, designed by Fulvio de Simoni and Ferretti Group’s Engineering Department, give the 5X its unique style.
Lacquered elements and pristine white Vescom wallpaper are used to decorate the cabins; bedspreads and cushions are by Zimmer + Rhode and Casamance, in addition to a pair of decorative lamps by Cini & Nils in the master suite; while the bathrooms have ceramic tops and basins, and decorative options like mosaics on the shower walls.
The galley's Cantalupi LED fixtures illuminate beautiful Corian Anthrachite surfaces mirrored on the table top of the dinette, which is built around a foldable table that can convert into a sofa bed.
ENGINES AND PERFORMANCE
The Pershing 5X is available in two engine configurations that also involve a different engine room arrangement.
The first choice is twin 725hp Volvo Penta IPS-950 D11s for a cruising speed of 30 knots and maximum speed of 36 knots, according to preliminary data.
Alternatively, you can opt for twin CAT 12.9 engines, with 1000hp each, and Top System 75X surface drives for a cruising speed of 41 knots and maximum speed 45 knots (preliminary data). This would be our preference — why hold back? — with the so-called EasyJet system usually reserved for larger vessels.
With an optional joystick for enhanced manoeuvrability, the EasyJet system becomes the EasyDock and is the result of the consolidated technological partnership between Pershing and Top System. You can see the system in action here. You get high speed and low-speed manoeuvrability from the surface drives.
