Yamaha WaveRunners says it is thrilled with its domination at the 2014 Australian Jet Sports Boating Association (AJSBA) Bridge to Bridge Race in Sydney on Sunday (May 4). The iconic flat water river race is one of the most anticipated on the Australian Watercraft racing calendar, and counts as Round 4 of the AJSBA Australian Enduro Tour.
Yamaha Factory Team Riders Matt Brunt and Mitch Wayt both rode a flawless flag-to-flag race on their stock runabout class FZS SVHOs, with both riders launching off the line and running away from the competition early in the race. After trading first and second places with each other, Matt Brunt was able to inch ahead of his teammate to take the chequered flag by less than a second from Mitch Wayt; securing Yamaha Factory Racing’s third consecutive win of the season.
"We’re very happy with the result today; it was an excellent team performance." Said Matt. "Even before the race had started, the Yamaha FZS SVHO was showing its competitiveness throughout the practice sessions and class heats. Both Mitch and I had a fantastic start; we were able to out hole-shot the rest of the competition and were able to build-up an early gap and run away from the rest of the pack. By the time we crossed the chequered flag, we had built a gap of nearly a minute to third place!”
This is the third consecutive win of the season, and fifth podium in only three races for the Yamaha Factory Racing Team and their Stock Runabout class FZS SVHOs.
The fifth and final round of the national tour will be held at the St George Sailing Club, Sydney on May 17. All eyes will be on the Yamaha riders in their attempt to secure the 2014 Australian Stock Runabout Class Championship.
