On the Cresta of a wave

Cresta Motor Yachts is making a comeback in 2011

Having roots back to 1965, iconic Australian Motor Yachting brand, Cresta Motor Yachts Limited has developed and engineered three new and innovative class leading luxury motor yachts priced at an affordable pricepoint and expected to be launched in early 2011.

Cresta Motor Yachts, which has listed with the Australian Small Scale Offerings Board (ASSOB) to raise capital to fund the further expansion of the business, believes there will be a significant uptake of new vessels following the improvement of global financial markets and as the recovery of financial markets returns to full swing in 2011.

But unlike many other boatbuilders, Cresta claims it has developed a production process that enables it to manufacture high-quality motoryachts at a much lower price point than Australian and international competitors.

Cresta’s production plant is in Wei Hai, China, an area renowned for its local boatbuilding industry and the availability of skilled workers. Many of Cresta’s Chinese boatbuilders are said to be from families who have been in the industry for more than eight generations.

All boats are made under the strict supervision of Australian and New Zealand boatbuilders, which ensures that all vessels are constructed to internationally recognised standards.

Cresta has further reduced manufacturing costs by using a number of Chinese raw materials in the decks, especially teak purchased from local tree growers. But all Cresta’s boats are semi-customised, providing owners with flexibility in the finishes, design and power.

Cresta is currently manufacturing three varieties of motoryachts: a 62 Open Flybridge targeted at amateur and professional sportsfisherman; a 66 Enclosed Flybridge that appeals to both coastal cruisers and ocean adventurers; and a 70 Motor Yacht, the luxury flagship with, says Cresta, “accommodation and affordability on a scale never offered before.”
