Oceania Dive Travel and Watersports Expo (ODEX) is Australia’s premier trade and consumer event for recreational scuba diving, underwater imaging, freediving, spearfishing, finswimming, marine conservation and underwater sports. Co-located with ODEX is Blue Edge an International Freediving and Spearfishing Show.
ODEX is claimed to be one of the world’s most interactive scuba diving expos as visitors can participate in scuba ‘try dives’ and gear trials at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre competition and deep-utility pools.
Visitors will also be able to attend free expert seminars, get bargains on gadgets, gizmos and holidays, check out informative demonstrations, be entertained by the pool competitions, and meet national and world-ranked competitors.
Returning again this year is the ever popular IF&SN Bluewater Hunting and Freediving Forum.
ODEX will also be hosting the 2012 Australian Open Finswimming Championships. You can check out this amazing extreme sport where trained competitors easily make times well beyond the world swimming records.
Hold your breath, literally, during the inaugural launch of the World Series Freediving Championships. Disciplines are STA -- static apnoea, classic dynamic apnoea and DYN -- dynamic apnoea. WSF will see a big turnout from the Females of Freediving as athletes and current record holders try and retain their rankings.
Get wet and wild with the teams playing at the daily underwater rugby exhibition matches. Combining the best aspects of freediving, finswimming and land rugby, underwater rugby is a truly spectacularly fun sport to play.
At ODEX bring your friends and family and make a day of it. Remember to bring your swimmers for a splash in the leisure pools. Expo doors open at 10.00am and close at 5.00pm each day.
