Alloy multihull specialist Ocean Cat will have two models on display at Sydney for the first time, the Brisbane-based boat-maker has announced.
The brand officially held its launch at this year’s Sanctuary Cove International Boart Show, but will head to Sydney in a few weeks with its first two Roger Hill-designed models – the 26-foot trailerable Ocean Cat Weekender 26 and Ocean Cat Offshore 26 – on display.

The hulls of both these models feature a symmetrical, constant deadrise planing hull with ‘Hi Lift’ chines with a 40-degree forward hull deadrise, a 23 degree amidships deadrise, and an 18-degree transom deadrise.
“A 10-degree down angle on the chines gives the hull extra planing lift and high efficiency on the plane,” Ocean Cat says. “It transitions onto the plane at a lower speed and generates more lift.
“A fine entry at the bow will ensure a comfortable ride in rough sea conditions.”
Ocean Cat Marine sales manager Tony Moore told boatsales.com.au that the Ocean Cat models were “totally different” to other products on the Australian market, particularly in terms of their bathrooms featuring full standing headroom.
“Your price range in these sorts of things is typically going to be from $275,000 upwards, so they’re not an everyday person’s boat,” Moore said.
“Who are we targeting these things at? I suppose middle-aged couples, families who really do like to get out there and use their boats,” he said.
Part of the Ocean Cat’s appeal is a large 660-litre fuel tank capacity, providing up to 320nm of range from the twin Yamaha F150 outboard engines that power the brand, making them suited to overnight trips, Moore said. The maximum performance rating is 400hp.
Optimal cruising speed is rated at 23 knots at 3500rpm with a top speed of up to 40 knots-plus with the more powerful outboard engine set.
The Offshore 26 version of the boat features a half-size roof and more of a fishing-focused layout, while the more family-oriented Weekender 26 has a full-length composite hardtop giving more sun protection.
The internal layout of both boats include a queen-size enclosed bunk berth, an enclosed shower and toilet, a galley with upright refrigeration, and back-to-back seating for four adults. The galley on the Ocean Cat Weekender 26 is larger than the one built into the Offshore 26.
Water capacity on the Weekender 26 is 200 litres, and 100 litres for the Offshore 26, while the holding tank is 70 litres.
The Weekender 26 also comes with the option of a set of clears to fully enclose the cockpit.
The Sydney International Boat Show opens at Darling Harbour on Thursday, August 1. Tickets are now on sale.
