More than 100 people gathered at Cid Harbour in the Whitsundays recently for the sixth Alexander Marine Whitsundays Get-Together.
The annual event, organised by Ocean Alexander’s local distributor Alexander Marine Australia, brings together a diverse range of owners who share the same passion for the brand, and boating.
This year’s flotilla included a diverse range of power boats ranging from monohulls to powered catamarans, and even a 33.0-metre superyacht.
The get-together started at Hamilton Island before the fleet motored north to the protected waters of Cid Harbour, just to the west of Whitsunday Island and a popular first-night anchorage for yachts that are touring the waterways.

There, three of the larger vessels – the Ocean Alexander 78 LV Three, expedition charter vessel Segara, and the Ocean Alexander 28 Explorer – rafted up to create a platform for the get-together’s opening event featuring a band named Rock Bottom.
Alexander Marine Australia said guests attending the event were taken back in time as waiters and waitresses donned traditional red and white pinstriped uniforms.
“The menu included a delicious traditional diner spread of French fries, burger sliders, Caesar salad and mini-hot dogs, prepared by talented event specialist chefs,” it said.
“Talented bar tenders onboard Segara created mouthwatering cocktails with guests contributing their own inspired recipes, which got more elaborate as day turned to night.”
Many of the boats attending the event were already in the Whitsundays enjoying the winter cruising season.

Alexander Marine Australia dealer principal Todd Holzapfel said many of the guests at this year’s event had attended each one since it started in 2016.
“What we love most about our annual Whitsundays Get-Together is it appeals to people with a wide variety of interests whether it be sailing, surfing, diving, fishing or just enjoying the tropical climate and scenery, but the one thing they have in common is their love for their boats,” Holzapfel said.
“Add to that, we welcome new friends into our circle each and every year which is rewarding for myself and my team.”
Planning has already started for next year’s event.
