
Keen NSW-based anglers can stay at any one of a number of state-owned fishing hideaways for a discounted rate with the Department of Primary Industries offering discounted bookings.
NSW DPI Fisheries has announced it has cut 33 per cent off the price of staying at the “eco” huts for anyone holding a NSW fishing licence.
The huts – a mix of everything from basic digs to historical homesteads – are part of the government’s initiative ”to develop wilderness fishing opportunities in national parks and other areas across the state”.

It includes 21 inland and coastal locations ranging from the Menindee Lakes region in western central NSW to Yamba on the northern NSW coast. Some are quite remote, meaning you’ll need to ensure you bring all the food, water and fuel you’ll need for your entire stay.

The type of fishing covered by the different locations includes everything from land and boat-based saltwater species to freshwater species including high-country trout and low-country cod and yellowbelly.
The eco hut offer is valid for stays to December 31, 2023, and includes long weekends and all NSW school holidays.
