Nominations for the biennial Maritime Medal in New South Whaler are now open, with the finalists to be announced on Friday August 4 during the 50th Sydney International Boat Show.
Recognising the outstanding and sustained contributions of individuals and organisations to the boating and maritime community of NSW, the prestigious Maritime Medal was first awarded in 2006.
Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Roads, Maritime and Transport Kevin Anderson says the Medal is about celebrating and acknowledging the passionate work of people in the boating and maritime community.
"While the bulk of us practice safe boating all the time there are many people in the community that often go above and beyond," Mr Anderson said
"We want to find these people and recognise that commitment and contribution — whether it’s a safety measure, an innovative solution to aid boating safety, or outstanding contribution to the community, now is the time to put those nominations in.
"The Maritime Medal judging panel looks forward to reviewing the nominations."
Nominations for the Maritime Medal close on 30 June 2017. Finalists in the nomination process will be invited to attend a special breakfast ceremony at this year’s Sydney International Boat Show on Friday 4 August 2017 when the medallists will be announced.
