Next-gen 300hp Suzuki DF300B goes on sale in Australia

Contra-rotating props, cheaper 91RON fuel diet feature large on Suzuki’s newest V6 outboard engine

Suzuki’s new-generation DF300B outboard engine featuring contra-rotating propellers has officially gone on sale in Australia.

Suzuki Marine said the new DF300B Dual Prop was the “perfect balance between awesome power and thrust with outstanding fuel-efficiency and trusted reliability all in a lightweight and stylish design”. It is priced from around $42,600 before other charges including dealer delivery fees, fitting and forward controls.

The outboard engine is the first 300hp unit worldwide to feature a six-blade contra-rotating propeller design.

“It’s an all-new experience that provides blistering acceleration and extreme cornering grip in this horsepower category,” Suzuki Marine said.

“Whether you’re pushing heavy loads in a commercial operation or want that extra lift out of the hole in your sports or fishing boat, the new DF300B is built for everyday use.”

The Suzuki DF300B outboard engine uses the same large displacement 4.4-litre V6 engine block as the more powerful 325hp DF325A and the 350hp DF350A.

Suzuki’s DF300B outboard engine is engineered to run on 91RON unleaded fuel – Suzuki’s DF300AP was rated for 95RON – and features the marine engine maker’s Lean Burn technology and a 10.5:1 compression ratio to give “the right combination of performance, reliability and economical running costs”.

“With six blades rotating under the water’s surface, the materials of the new DF300B gears are ultra-strong to withstand high loads and feature special heat treatment to give additional strength and reliability,” Suzuki Marine said.

“Not only does this configuration record high speeds under heavy loads, it also produces a strong reverse thrust aiding in greater manoeuvrability.

“The Dual Louver System at the air intake incorporates a double shield of blades, each one designed in a dog-leg shape,” it said.

“This system helps remove water from the air and prevents water to be taken into the cowl. As a result, intake air is free of moisture and kept close to ambient temperature for ultimate performance.”

The Suzuki DF300B also features the outboard engine maker’s dual injector system that helps with both cooling the engine’s running temperature and maximising power, all while minimising fuel use.

“The new DF300B adds to the line-up of our proven next-generation 4.4-litre V6 dual-prop powerplants that have been in the market for the past two years with our DF325A and DF350A horsepower models,” Suzuki Marine national service and warranty manager Ty Hawkins said.

“Designed to push heavier boats or for those customers that are looking for the next level of acceleration without sacrificing speed, then the DF300B is well worth considering,” Hawkins said.

The Suzuki DF300B outboard engine is covered under Suzuki Marine’s recently introduced 3+3 warranty, which provides three years of manufacturer warranty backed up with three years of dealer warranty if the engine is serviced by authorised Suzuki workshops.

It is available in either a black or white colour scheme and comes with the choice of standard 25-inch or extra-long 30-inch shaft lengths.
