Yellowfin, the name behind some of Australia’s best offshore plate boats, will launch an all-new range of models at the 2024 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show later this month.
According to the Queensland-based brand, the new line-up – the brand’s first model release since a big shake-up of Yellowfin in 2019 – will address “key customer demands whilst redefining the industry”.
“The new range … will feature the latest technology, address current market trends, enhance internal real estate, and pave the way for the future of boating,” Yellowfin said in a statement announcing the changes.
“An evolution of one of its most popular plate boat models, the new design is grounded by proven success whilst driven towards raising the bar for blue water anglers and adventure families alike.”
Yellowfin product strategy and marketing manager Lloyd Jaber said the new model range followed years of development, concept creation, fine-tuning and testing.
“We have continued to deliver industry-leading offshore plate boats since our inception in 1984, and are excited to utilise this milestone to launch something exciting,” he said.
This time around, Yellowfin has tapped into the research and development team at global powersports specialist BRP to help it develop “an unparalleled design with unmatched performance”.
Helping shape the makeover was “extensive market research deriving insights from expert boaters, and an ongoing review of consumer feedback”, Yellowfin said.
Yellowfin’s range of boats is hand-built in the Coomera factory using a dedicated team, with each boat passing through four quality control stages throughout its build process – part of a commitment to ensuring the highest quality standard throughout each vessel.
In 2019, Yellowfin introduced a huge new-model expansion that included the introduction of three new layouts – a folding hardtop, a rear console and a centre cabin.
The model range expanded from a previous offering of 10 to 27, with the smaller boats up to 5.8 metres in length swapping over from a deep 21-degree deadrise to a 17-degree deadrise to give the beamy hulls more stability at rest and on the move.
It also introduced flagship Southerner editions of the 7000 and 7600 Hard Top models.
In other big changes to the line-up, hardtop cabins were shifted 300mm further forward to give more cockpit space, while underfloor kill tanks were replaced with larger fuel tanks to provide more range for running wide.
The 2024 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show runs from May 23 to 26.
