Volvo Penta is unveiling its new 8lt common-rail marine diesel engine, the 550-600hp D8, for the first time to the public at the 2016 Sydney International Boat Show open from July 28 to August 1.
The impressive new D8 is on show at the Volvo Penta stand on the marina in Cockle Bay, where the progressive Swedish engine maker welcomes its expanding customer base. You can read more about the Volvo Penta D8 from our report from the world launch.
Perfect for the marine leisure market, Volvo Penta’s new D8 is coupled with the latest IPS15 drive to create the new Volvo Penta IPS800 fitted to the Riviera 4800 SY that's also enjoying its world debut.
Visitors to the Volvo Penta stand can learn more about the cutting-edge IPS drives, as well as its latest innovations such as Joystick Inboard, Battery Management System, e-Key Remote, and the updated Glass Cockpit. The Volvo Penta D8 engine and IPS800 is showcased in the new Riviera 4800 Sport Yacht — the first boat in the world to be publicly launched with this latest Volvo Penta IPS drive.
"We are excited to launch our new products and make them available for customers in the Australian and Oceanic region," says Andrew Nicholson, head of Volvo Penta Oceanic.
"The expanded Volvo Penta IPS range is something we are especially proud of and the new Riviera 4800 Sport Yacht is the first in the world to be revealed with the new IPS drive, which is perfectly matched to our new D8 engine.
"We look forward to the Sydney boat show as it is an ideal setting in which to showcase our new products for the first time."
