Watching one of your trailer wheels bounce past you as you drive to your favourite boat ramp is a far from unusual happening for boat owners. Rust never sleeps -- and it positively parties non-stop in steel axle springs, wheel bearings and wheel nuts.
Now Tubeseek Trailers on the Queensland Sunshine Coast is marketing an American designed and built aluminium and stainless steel trailer that is guaranteed to end this distressing problem.
After searching the world for a solution to the problems of rust, Tubeseek came across the Rolls Axle trailer in the United States and decided they had found the answer.
The Rolls Axle trailers have a number of innovative features. The body is made of marine aluminium I-beam and is bolted together using stainless steel bolts and nuts. There are no welds to flex and crack. The bolts allow for slight movement in the frame without further problems.
Almost everything else is stainless steel or aluminium. The axle is made of aluminium and will not rust. The patented suspension is also guaranteed not to rust. The suspension uses a aluminium bar that compresses a rubber piston, there are no steel leaf springs.
The wheel rims are alloy and are bolted to stainless steel hubs with stainless steel nuts. They are also fitted with "Air Tight Hubs" which can be blown up with a bike pump to create a positive pressure that will keep water out of the wheel bearings. The nylon hydraulic brake lines and the LED tail lights are fully submersible.
Because of their aluminium construction the trailers are lighter than those made from galvanised steel and the boat and trailer can be towed by a smaller vehicle.
Tubeseek Trailers is having the trailers custom made in the US by Rolls Axle to Australian standards. Models range to suit boats from 17 to 28 feet and they come with a five year warranty.
