Incat Crowther has launched Quaranta, a boat that the designers say demonstrates the advantages of a catamaran in a superyacht application.
Although the vessel has an overall length of 33.7 metres, she claims comparable interior space to a 40-metre monohull, says Incat. At the same time, the cat requires less horsepower to run and, thus, less capital and operating costs than a monohull.
Developed by luxury-cat builder Curvelle and manufactured in Turkey, Quaranta is said to offer functionality and flexibility, with six large cabins on the main deck. The cabins can be configured as twin or double staterooms or combined with the adjacent spaces to create three large suites.
Crew accommodation and service areas are in the hulls, while a large lounge and dining space occupies the upper deck aft of the wheelhouse.
Quaranta is powered by a pair of Caterpillar C32 ACERT main engines, each producing 1417kW at 2300rpm. The shaft line consists of ZF3050 gearboxes and a pair of fixed-pitch propellers.
Incat Crowther says it designed the catamaran for efficient cruising and optimum range.
