It's not often you see a superyacht builder come back down the range and, well, back to earth, but the highly respected Sunreef yard in Poland is now targeting the cruising set with a new 50-footer that a couple can come at and command.
The new Sunreef 50 is the latest models in the all-new line of sail catamarans currently enjoying great sales success. The new 60-foot and 80-foot have accounted for seven new builds, leading one to thing this 50 footer will be even more popular.
With a range of sailing catamarans to 165 feet in length and powered trimarans on the drawing board up to 210-feet, Sunreef is a superyacht yard.
The benefit for owner-sailors on a 50-footer is that they get to enjoy this up-spec thinking, design fitout and big-boat technology on a scale that is affordable and practical.
AUSTRALIAN APPEAL
Brendan Hunt, CEO of Vicsail, is effusive in his praise for this new range of Sailing cats. He recently announced that a
Classic Sail 80 (news) was coming for one of his best clients.
"The Sail Classic range in both 60 and 80 feet offers a completely new approach. They are fast, stylish and with features like access to sun lounge areas forward, the biggest Flybridge in class and amazing patio feel aft.
He was also full of praise for the new 50 and its application and appeal in Australian waters...
"I absolutely believe the new Sunreef 50 is a strategic boat and fits perfectly with our client’s expectations. Sunreef offers a quality catamaran which is well styled, well-designed and allows for custom fitou. This is long overdue.
"The 50 is a luxury private yacht which can be piloted shorthanded, while also offering generous accommodation and entertaining to suit bigger guest numbers."
MASSIVE LIVING SPACE
Pitched as all-around compact sailing yacht ideal for exclusive getaways, charter and transoceanic adventures, the Sunreef 50 is said to boast a superior level of comfort to everyday European production cats and a fresh, yet classically inspired design.
The clever bridge deck and superstructure design allow for a superior level of comfort onboard whereas the generous use of teak, high bulwarks and classy lines underscore her modern, edgy styling.
Indoor/outdoor living is a highlight thanks to a 30-foot beam and a saloon that opens onto the comfortable bow terrace forward and the yacht’s aft cockpit, which is extended with a hydraulic aft platform.
The hulls are said to provide impressive volume for custom layouts, with airy and luxurious guest cabins and an opulent master suite with a walk-in dressing, desk, sofa, retractable TV and an "immense bathroom."
While housing the main helm, the large flybridge is dedicated to leisure with more than enough space for movable furniture, a fully-equipped wet bar, and large sunpads.
Built from modern composites and with 130sq m of main and genoa sail area, the light but strong 50 should revel in fast passage making.
