Mercury Marine has announced a 4180 square metre expansion to its electro-deposition paint (EDP) system that will double its current processing capabilities. The current project will be complete by January 2016 and the new system will be operational by Q4, 2016.
"We are developing a new state of the art coating system that gives our engines superior corrosion and warranty protection," said John Pfeifer, Mercury Marine president.
"This process enforces our ability to make a better product for our customers who expect extreme reliability in their Mercury engines. This expansion will not only create jobs, but it’ll improve our flexibility, quality and improve the environment."
With this new expansion, Mercury Marine will have invested more than $580M into capital investments and R&D since 2009. Mercury currently employs more than 5000 people worldwide, approximately 2800 of whom work in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
Meantime, it will be interesting to learn more about the properties, claims and warranties of this new outboard-engine coating obviously designed to help prevent corrosion on Mercury's American-built larger-horsepower outboard engines.
