German tool manufacturer Wera has a range of stainless steel tools that it claims will eliminate extraneous rust from fasteners and the like used in marine applications.
The use of regular screwdrivers on stainless steel screws can leave tiny shards of carbon steel in screw heads, leading to dissimilar metal corrosion. Corrosion resistant stainless steel can still fall victim to unsightly, extraneous rust, particularly if not handled correctly.
Wera claims its new stainless steel tool range has been designed to eliminate any risk of extraneous rust. And it has overcome the problem of forging stainless steel with the tensile strength needed for the job. Its new range of vacuum and ice hardened stainless steel tools are said to provide the durability of mild steel yet have the non-rusting qualities of stainless steel.
Australian and NZ distributor of the Wera tools, Tridon, said that stainless steel forging technology is a real engineering breakthrough. In fact, Wera has received an award as one of the five most innovative companies in Germany.
Besides the Kraftform stainless screwdriver, the stainless steel tool range includes bits with torsion zone, a specially matched Rapidaptor with quick release mount and L-keys with Hex-Plus profile.
The Kraftform Kompakt 60 stainless steel bits can be used for either manual or machine applications. Tridon exclusively distributes Wera in Australia and New Zealand. For more information contact Tridon customer service on 1300 362 263 or visit www.tridon.com.au.
