Fish-finding technology has reached new levels claims Navico, with its latest sonar system the BSM-1 Broadband Sounder Module.
Plug-and-play compatible with both the Northstar 8000i multifunction display and the Simrad GB40 Navigation System, Navico's new high-speed Ethernet-based system is said to deliver remarkable echo clarity and what is claimed to be the highest underwater definition yet achieved.
The BSM-1 allegedly delivers crystal-clear images of individual fish and clear separation of fish from other underwater objects, undersea structures, thermoclines and the seabed in both shallow and deep water. Navico reckons surface and turbulent water clutter are virtually eliminated too.
The module will provide clear images to 900 metres, even at high speeds, by utilising a clean, low-power signal, adaptable long pulse and fast digital signal processing.
The new broadband module operates on 50khz, 83khz and 200khz frequencies and is compatible with a full range of high-performance 600W and 1kW transducers.
The compact device measures just 57mm x 180mm x 204 mm and weighs just under a kilogram, is waterproof and can operate on both 12V or 24 V power systems.
The Navico BSM-1 will be available from dealers across the country in July (2009) and has a suggested retail price of $1349.
