New Simrad GO9 XSE with the lot

New 9in nav, fish finding and engine monitoring 'station' with smart-phone-like operation

Simrad has released its new GO9 XSE that uses intuitive, multitouch controls akin what's on your smartphone and tablet to access navigation charts, add waypoints and access key information on the nine-inch colour screen.

Fully compatible with Simrad Broadband 3G/4G Radar systems, the latest addition to the popular GO Series also features an internal 10 Hz GPS receiver, StructureScan HD and CHIRP Sonar for fishfinding.

There is autopilot integration, engine data monitoring, AV connectivity with SonicHub2, built-in wireless connectivity, and the powerful Simrad TripIntelTM trip computer.

The GO9 XSE has a Cruise Charting page that displays crucial navigation data and charts into one easy-to-read display, while new TripIntel technology tracks and displays the key information needed to plan a safe and enjoyable day on the water.

Fuel range overlaid on charts, current and future tide levels, and a detailed history of previous trips — including the route taken and how the boat performed — are all provided by TripIntel functionality.

The Simrad GO9 XSE also connects to NMEA 2000 compatible equipment aboard vessels with either outboard or inboard engines to show fuel flow, fluid level, speed, heading and water temperature. A wide range of cartography options are available, including C-MAP, Navionics and more.

Simrad says anglers can take full advantage of the built-in sonar by simply adding a suitable transducer for accurate, real-time depth tracking and fishfinding. A scrollable depth history view allows boaters to track back and easily set waypoints for promising anchorages.

Meantime, the TotalScan all-in-one transducer matches StructureScan HD Imaging, DownScan Imaging and CHIRP sonar for picture-like views of the bottom on each side and beneath the boat, as well as providing improved target identification at greater depths, a clearer display with less interference and enhanced target separation, says Simrad.

ForwardScan sonar technology built into the GO9 XSE (transducer sold separately) also provides forward-looking, two-dimensional sonar views of the bottom depth ahead of a boat, which should prevent running aground and help locate secure sites to drop anchor.

The new Simrad GO9 XSE is available in various configurations ranging from $1899 AUD RRP/ $2069 NZD RRP without transducer, and up to $2049 AUD RRP/ $2239 NZD RRP with TotalScan transducer.

Consumers can find the new Simrad GO9 XSE products in stores from November 2016. For more information see http://www.simrad-yachting.com.
