An exciting new addition to Shimano’s comprehensive Raider Mexican Fire rod range for the 2014/15 season is the Cod Raider. As the name suggests, it is tailor-made for chasing Australia’s largest, most iconic freshwater native, the mighty Murray cod.
Available in a choice of either one or two-piece configuration, the Cod Raider has been developed with input from noted Victorian cod specialist, Rod 'Codmac' Mackenzie. It is 1.93m in length and can handle a range of lures such as surface plugs, shallow and deep divers, and spinnerbaits from 15 to 40 grams in weight.
"I gave one of these rods a serious workout on the big cod last season landing no less than 20 over the metre mark. Great stick, well priced and designed with big cod in mind," said Codmac.
The grips are high density cork, with a Fuji reel seat, guides are Sea Guides, and the high performance blank utilises Japanese Toray graphite, a company recognised the world over as the leader in carbon fibre technology.
