The large range of new boats that will make their debuts at this year's Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show has convinced organisers that the marine sector is showing growing confidence in the economy.
Among the yachts that visitors will get their first good look at are the Lagoon 400 and Lagoon 620 sailing catamarans, the Dragonfly 35 swing wing trimaran (pictured), the Fountaine Pajot Lipari 41, the Bavaria cruiser 32, the Hanse 375 and the Hunter 39.
Power boat fans won't be disappointed either. Riveria will display its 56 open flybridge and its totally new 43 open flybridge models. There will be seven other large boats, including the 5800 Sports yacht and the 51 enclosed flybridge at Riveria's 2364 square metre display.
Other power boats include the Arvor 215, Lizard Yachts' new 12.7 metre power catamaran and spectacular boats from Sunseeker and Princess.
The SCIBS general manager Barry Jenkins says he has 340 confirmed exhibitors and that there are further bookings coming in each day. "Our three large pavilions are almost fully booked and the hardstand display space has been snapped up," Jenkins says.
"Already we have 50 world and Australian marine product launches that we know about while the 2010 show has drawn exhibitors from the US, Italy, New Zealand and China," Jenkins says, "Many exhibitors see Sanctuary Cove as crucial in reaching important international and Australian industry markets and consumers. Overall there is an underlying confidence surfacing within the industry and it appears that the marine sector is rebuilding itself from the gloom of late 2008."
The prestige brokerage and charter exhibition of the show's marina's C-arm will showcase several multimillion dollar vessels over 30 metres.
Celebrating its 22nd year, the SCIBS will be open from 9am to 5pm daily from May 20 to May 23. Buyers who purchase their tickets on line will pay $19 rather than the $22 at the gate. Children 14 and under will be free. There is no public parking on the site but Park 'n' Ride and taxi drop off is available.
