New Princess S65 parades Down Under

A stunning sportbridge with spirited performance and British-built luxury arrives for summer

The "S" stands for sportbridge but it could just as easily mean stimulating, stirring and spirited. For the all-new S65 from the British boatbuilder Princess is designed outside the box for a greater sensory boating experience.

Beyond the sheer luxury one might expect in a Princess motoryacht, the new S Class provides a heady mix of speed and comfort in a utopian cruising conveyance with terrific connectivity.

Joining the S72 in this exclusive three-boat range (the S60 will launch next), the new S65 has just arrived Down Under in time for the coming top-down-summer-seabreeze-in-your-hair-luxury-boating season.

The importer and local Princess agent, Boutique Boats, which has offices in Sydney, the Gold Coast and Fremantle, says there’s an undeniable presence about the S65. Evidently, no-one has walked away from seeing this new S Class without being left in a state of awe.

But while the svelte S65 looks stunning just tied to the Rose Bay Marina, the boat is said to be something else again when you cast the lines, tweak the thrusters and decamp for some sportbridge cruising.

The combination of a lightweight deep-vee hull, built utilising the latest closed-mould construction methods, and a pair of eager Caterpillar 1150hp C18 diesel engines with shaft drives delivers a thrilling sense of acceleration up to 34 knots in the sportbridge.

Then you settle back to that dignified British luxury boating cruise with your champagne and find somewhere to swing on the stainless steel 'hook'.

When at anchor, a sense of calm is said to descend onto the boat’s generous well-appointed decks, which include a spacious foredeck seating area and cockpit, in addition to the sportbridge, which is about the size of a normal 43-footer's flybridge.

This rooftop terrace, if you will, allows for a full sunroof forward over the saloon, thereby creating the best of all worlds.

Extending the waterfront real estate, the hydraulic bathing platform and 3.3m tender garage are the perfect base for watersports. Games over, the interior is designed to play the perfect host.

The beautifully appointed aft galley, with an open-plan dining area opposite, has sliding doors and a fully opening electric window which leads out to the cockpit, creating an al-fresco bar.

Princess says the flexible indoor to outdoor living is designed to make the most of warm days and balmy evenings that make waterways like Sydney Harbour among the best for luxury cruising anywhere in the world.

Below decks, eight people can be accommodated across four cabins, three of which boast ensuites. Palm Beach for holidays would be ideal. An optional aft crew cabin can be specified if required, although this S65 remains very much an owner/driver boat with great sight lines from the helm and docking stations.

With 4100 litres of fuel and an Australian specification including upgraded anchoring gear, full Raymarine navigation kit, large televisions and AV systems, European appliances, washer/dryer, and stunning stained Alba Oak joinery, the S65 is ready for Christmas, summer holidays, Hamilton Island and cruising beyond.

Boasting a wide beam and footprint, three generous on-deck living areas including the streamlines sportbridge, and the tender garage capable of storing a 3.3m RIB, the S65 combines distinctive styling and high performance with expansive entertaining options.

Boutique Boats, the local Princess importer, has the new S65 open for inspection at its Rose Bay Marina office, with sea trials by arrangement. This is the latest and greatest Princess from the Plymouth-based yard and the parent company, those purveyor of luxury goods, the LVMH Group.
