New Pershing 5X is one cool coupe

The new 54ft Pershing 5X selling fast ahead of its September debut in Cannes

Just a few months after the announcement of its 140-foot flagship,  Italian luxury performance-boating brand Pershing is ready to launch its new 54ft 5X coupe.

The letter "X"  – used in aerospace to identify extreme performance and technological innovation – symbolises relentless drive to conquer new horizons at great speed, Pershing says.

Proving that point, Pershing X’s lines, propulsion, performance and style have already convinced the yachting market, with six of the dashing 54-foot coupe yachts sold months before the official debut at the Cannes boat show from September 6-11.

"Those who choose Pershing yachts are looking for something that other yachts can't offer. It is our job, every time, to fulfill their wish for extraordinary performance and emotion," says Ferretti Group’s Chief Commercial Officer Stefano de Vivo.

"The amazing style and performance of the new 5X epitomises this philosophy. And the X in the name reflects each Pershing's unique character, of those who choose our coupé yachts."

The 5X will soon be joined by other X models that Pershing says will widen the range and conquer new enthusiastic owners in the Mediterranean and the U.S. — where Pershing says it's the most successful brand on the market — and also in South America, and the Asia-Pacific region.

Ray White Marine handles Pershing and parent company Ferretti luxury boats in Australia and this 54-footer would be a great fit Down Under.

The Pershing 5X is the result of the collaboration between Ferretti Group’s Engineering Department, Product Strategy Committee, and architect Fulvio De Simoni. The svelte boat measure 16.51 metres long (54.2’) and has a beam of 4.38 metres (14.4’).

The cockpit, a Pershing hallmark, is protected on the sides by two aerodynamic wings and can be separated or joined to the saloon thanks to a special opening and closing system for the glass door and glazed surface dividing these two areas. This solution is installed for the first time on a Pershing of this size and allows guests to fully enjoy the yacht in any and all weather conditions.

The main deck features a living room with a dining table, the helm station to starboard, and a second forward lounge. The forward part of the ceiling comprises of a sliding glass roof and a second fixed glass section can be added upon request.

The lower deck has been designed around the spacious full-beam master suite with en suite bathroom. In the prototype layout version, the VIP cabin is located forward and the dinette is in front of the galley; as an alternative, the dinette can be replaced by a guest cabin or a crew cabin accessible from the deckhouse.

The yacht will come in two engine configurations, each with its own engine room layout: twin Volvo D11 IPS950 engines with 725hp per side, with Z-drives and counter-rotating propellers (cruising speed 30 knots, maximum speed 35 knots - preliminary data), or twin 1000hp CAT 12.9 engines, with Top System 75X surface drives (cruising speed 41 knots, maximum speed 45 knots - preliminary data).
