New Moody 45 DS enthralls UK sailors

The 45 DS is the first of a completely new generation of Moody, formally unveiled in an all-weekend affair early this month at the yachtbuilder's UK headquarters in Swanwick

"Moody is an old, traditional English brand...(and) we have injected new life into it," said Michael Schmidt of HanseYachts that took over Moody last year.

"We have continued the 150-year-old yachtbuilding tradition with a completely new generation of vessels.

"The Moody brand has always been synonymous with innovation, quality and solid craft - and it shall continue like that in the future.

"Today's chosen design for the Moody will be tomorrow's design for yachting!" Schmidt said.

Over the weekend the German dockyard manager and Moody's English designers, Bill Dixon and Marc Tucker, were available to answer questions from guests at Swanwick Marina on the River Hamble.

Many UK sailors attended to view the "new Moody" more closely said the company.

New ideas from throughout the boat construction industry were considered in the design of this deck saloon yacht.

Osmosis is no longer a concern with the hull made of epoxy resins, and the 45 DS also has good sailing characteristics, said the builder.
