New models for SeaCraft

SeaCraft, the Sydney-based tinny, engine and trailer producer, is planning to add new centre-console and forward-console models to its line-up in the next couple of months.

Started by Sydney boat retailer Sancho Kalcev and his partners just five years ago, SeaCraft boats, SeaTrail trailers and SeaKing outboards have forged a successful niche in the local market with their budget priced package deals.

Kalcev told the Boatsales Network he moved from being a boat retailer to being a manufacturer after a local trailer supplier refused to give him a better price on the more than 100 trailers he was selling each year than that given to retailers selling less than half a dozen units.

"My partner was already getting other products made in China, so we decided to investigate getting boats, motors and trailers made there and bringing them in as a package," Kalcev says.

"Our recommended retail price for a boat/motor/trailer package is about 25 per cent below our competitors and we believe our products are of higher standard."

Initially Ausmarine, Kalcev's production company, imported just three models but that has now expanded to a line of seven tinnies, ranging from a 3.3 metre cartopper to 4.5 metre deep-vee boats.

The new forward control and centre console models of the 4.5 metre boat will be available before the end of the year.

Ausmarine also imports SeaKing outboards ranging from 2.6hp up to 40hp in both two and four-stroke. Kalcev says the motors are based on Yamaha designs and many parts are interchangeable.

SeaTrail boat trailers range from small lightweight folding trailers for cartoppers to 2000kg capacity tandem trailers.

Kalcev says all the boats and trailers are built to his specifications. The smaller boats are built of 2mm marine grade aluminium while those over 4 metres are built from 3mm plate.

"SeaCraft boats have features, as standard, that many local manufacturers list as extras," he says, "Our boats have front and rear grabrails, rear boarding steps, luggage/fueltank racks, drink holders, rodholders, an aluminium anchor well and carpeted floors.

"SeaTrail trailers are galvanised and feature mudflaps, safety chains, LED lights, swing-up jockey wheels and step-on mudguards."
