New model, more power
Yanmar Diesel has released the first model from its new series of electronically controlled marine diesel engines.Boasting 353kW of power, the new Yanmar 6LY3-ETP is the lightest and most powerful engine in its class with a compact profile akin to a 300hp diesel unit, the company says.
The redesigned 6LY3-ETP engine is turbocharged, direct injected, and intercooled.
The 24-valve, in-line six-cylinder engine produces 480mhp at 3300rpm and weighs in at 640kg.
The engine features a new electronic control system that governs all engine operations from fuel management to twin engine synchronisation.
The new 6LY3-ETP achieves 12 per cent greater power and up to 10 per cent better fuel consumption than previous models, the company says.
